Wide Area Networks

FirstNet offers wide area network  solutions built on our multiple connectivity options as well as firewall managed services, giving you the best possible solution to meet your business needs.

Software Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN)

SD-WAN uses software to control the connectivity, management and services between data centers, remote offices and cloud resources. This allows companies to segment, partition and secure traffic traversing the WAN and simplifies the way broadband links are being used for data, voice or video, ultimately giving companies flexibility and saving them money in the process.

Benefits

  • FirstNet makes the move to SD-WAN simple and cost effective with our multiple connectivity options.

  • Firewall-As-A-Service available allowing customers to pay a monthly fee for Firewalls negating the need for large capital outlay.

  • Vast cloud security experience and knowledge.

Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)

MPLS uses networking technology to route traffic across the network using pre-determined ‘labels’ meaning that businesses can label traffic to be ‘real-time’, ‘mission critical’ or ‘best effort’ for example, in order to prioritise traffic across their network.
MPLS is reliable, but MPLS connectivity is more expensive than a broadband internet connection and with businesses today needing to direct majority of their traffic to and from their cloud provider, many companies are opting for SD-WAN instead, decentralising their internet breakout and hub and spoke network model.

Benefits

  • Multiple business grade Layer2 access options over fibre and microwave.

  • Data centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban (Riverhorse and Umhlanga)

  • Vast knowledge on building and managing MPLS networks for many customers Including Hybrid MPLS/SD-WAN networks.
