Is Netskope from FirstNet just a web proxy replacement?

Secure Access & SSE · Answered by FirstNet Technology Services

Short answer

No. A secure web gateway is often the entry point, but Netskope also covers CASB, DLP, Private Access, remote browser isolation, analytics and wider SSE and SASE capabilities on the same platform, delivered and optionally managed by FirstNet.

In detail

What the Netskope One platform includes:

  • Secure Web Gateway (SWG): secures internet and SaaS traffic inline
  • Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB): visibility and control of cloud apps, including shadow IT and AI tool usage
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP): protects sensitive data across web, SaaS, endpoint, email and AI channels
  • Private Access (ZTNA): zero trust, app-level access to private applications in place of a VPN
  • Remote Browser Isolation (RBI): opens risky web content in an isolated session
  • Advanced Analytics: dashboards, KPI reporting and board-ready visuals

All of these share one console, one client and one policy engine, with traffic carried over NewEdge, Netskope's private cloud backbone. That shared architecture means policy logic and visibility do not have to be rebuilt separately for each control.

A common path is to replace an ageing proxy first, then add CASB, remote browser isolation and DLP once the gateway is proving its value.
