Short answer
Yes. Port speeds and capacity can be increased as traffic grows, and FirstNet reviews utilisation and performance KPIs on an ongoing basis so upgrades can be planned rather than made in a hurry.
In detail
Scalability is designed in from the start. FirstNet's cloud on-ramp process right-sizes capacity during design and keeps it under review:
- Assessment: baseline current latency and traffic patterns
- Design: right-size ports, redundancy and traffic segregation
- Implementation: configure routing, security policies and monitoring
- Optimisation: ongoing review of utilisation and performance KPIs, with capacity increased as needed
FirstNet runs direct private peering with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, AWS, Google Cloud and major content delivery networks, with engineered headroom for stable performance at peak. One eCommerce customer used direct peering to stabilise checkout performance during seasonal peaks.
International growth is covered too: traffic to overseas regions uses multi-peer transit at hubs including London, New York, Frankfurt and Singapore, across seven or more undersea cable systems. If the access links at your sites also need to grow, FirstNet can increase bandwidth or move a site to Dedicated Internet Access for committed, symmetric capacity.
