Short answer
No. LTE/5G mobile broadband is a best-effort service without a fixed uptime SLA, because performance varies with mobile network load and signal. FirstNet still supplies a business-grade managed router, optimises signal and monitors the link.
In detail
Where LTE/5G is the right tool:
- Rapid go-live, often within a few working days
- Temporary sites, pop-ups, construction sites, vehicles and portable units
- Failover for fibre, since it is not affected by fibre cuts or cable theft
Where it is not the best primary: if a fixed site needs a link with service levels, fibre or licensed microwave is preferred where feasible. Business fibre carries availability targets up to 99.5% on premium networks and 99% on standard, and fixed wireless usually targets up to about 99%.
Temporary wireless used while fibre is built also carries no SLA and runs on a minimum six-month term. If you depend on LTE/5G at a remote site, design can reduce the risk: pair it with LEO satellite, which is independent of mobile towers, or bond several links with Peplink so a single network problem does not take the site offline.
