Short answer
Yes. FirstNet designs hybrid architectures that keep sensitive or regulated systems in private cloud while using public cloud for burst capacity and innovation, with the environments connected privately.
In detail
How FirstNet builds hybrid environments:
- FirstNet Private Cloud, hosted in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, for dedicated, locally hosted workloads with predictable building-block costs
- Private peering from Private Cloud to AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, so traffic does not rely on the public internet
- Azure landing zones for hyperscale and platform-as-a-service workloads, designed before migration waves start
- Colocation for hardware you keep, with cross-connects to cloud on-ramps such as Azure ExpressRoute and AWS Direct Connect at Teraco sites
- Hybrid identity, connecting on-premises Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID for single sign-on, MFA and conditional access
Hybrid is the most common architecture today, and many organisations use both Private Cloud and Azure. The right split depends on each workload's performance, compliance and cost profile, which FirstNet assesses during discovery. Hybrid designs also suit gradual migrations, where some systems move first and others stay on-premises until they are ready. As a Microsoft CSP, FirstNet can supply the Azure licensing on the same rand-billed agreement.
