Short answer
FirstNet's managed Mimecast service works with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, Google Workspace, hybrid Exchange and standalone SMTP mail environments. Mimecast sits in front of your mail platform as a secure email gateway, so you keep your existing mailboxes.
In detail
Integration covers more than mail flow:
- Identity: Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace identity and other SAML or OIDC providers for single sign-on and provisioning
- Security tools: API integrations with SIEM, SOAR, EDR and ticketing platforms
- Continuity: Outlook for Windows and Mac, a web interface and mobile apps keep users working during a Microsoft 365 outage, where continuity is contracted
- DMARC: managed DMARC is part of the Resilience tier, and SendMarc covers outbound domain protection
Onboarding starts with a technical workshop on MX records, connectors, DMARC posture, identity, retention and continuity. Complex environments, such as multiple domains, multi-tenant Microsoft 365 or legacy archive ingest, get a dedicated workshop before dates are committed, and the MX cutover can be phased.
Your organisation keeps control of its mail tenant, identities and mailbox content, while FirstNet operates the Mimecast layer.
