Short answer
FirstNet prioritises controls that add protection with minimal friction, and phases changes with clear communication, so users are not hit by a sudden wall of blocks and prompts.
In detail
How friction is kept low across services:
- Pilots first: Netskope rollouts usually start with a smaller user group so policies and traffic steering can be tested before production
- Detection before enforcement: Cloudflare's WAF runs in detection mode and is tuned against real traffic before it blocks anything
- Safe baselines: Mimecast starts with a baseline policy, a hyper-care tuning window and clear quarantine release workflows
- Isolation instead of blocking: remote browser isolation lets users view risky sites safely rather than blocking whole categories
- Phased DMARC enforcement, so legitimate marketing and transactional email keeps flowing
Tuning continues after go-live as part of the managed service, based on what FirstNet sees in your environment.
Performance is also considered in design. Firewalls are sized on real inspected traffic rather than line speed, and Cloudflare inspects South African traffic at its Johannesburg and Cape Town points of presence.
Tell FirstNet early which users and applications are business-critical so they can be piloted carefully.
