Does FirstCoreAI train AI models on our data?

Sovereign AI · Answered by FirstNet Technology Services

Short answer

No. Customer data on the AI Factory is not used to train models or to improve FirstCoreAI's services, and it is processed in South Africa.

In detail: Is our data used to train AI models? FirstCoreAI

How FirstCoreAI, FirstNet's AI business unit, handles your data:

  • No training on your data: prompts, documents and outputs are not used to train or improve models.
  • Processed in South Africa: inference runs in FirstNet's Durban data centre.
  • Encrypted in transit: TLS throughout.
  • You hold the keys: you manage your own API keys, usage and spend.
  • No access to your traffic: FirstCoreAI sees usage and spend, never your prompts, outputs or keys.

FirstCoreAI designs its endpoints, retention and access controls to align with POPIA, and it tells you plainly when a workload, such as a call to an overseas frontier model, would mean data leaving the country, so you can decide deliberately.

For privacy or POPIA questions about a specific workload, book a scoping call through the AI Factory demo form on FirstNet's website.
