How does FirstCoreAI, the AI business unit, relate to FirstNet and the First Technology Group?

Short answer

FirstCoreAI is a business unit of FirstNet, the data-centre, connectivity and ISP arm of the First Technology Group. It is FirstNet's AI business, and its AI Factory GPU cluster runs inside FirstNet's South African data centre on networks FirstNet operates.

In detail

That structure means the team that runs your connectivity also runs the platform your AI lives on. FirstCoreAI owns and operates the physical compute, and network tuning, rack scaling and cross-connects are handled by one team.

FirstNet was founded in 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the First Technology Group, which has over three decades in South African IT.

FirstCoreAI delivers four solution lines from that platform:

  • GPU & Inference (InfraAI): private inference endpoints and GPU capacity, hosted locally and billed in rand.
  • Custom AI Engineering (EngineAI): RAG systems, AI agents, document and call pipelines, and fine-tuned models.
  • Creative & Content AI (StudioAI): personalised video, voice, copy and design produced at scale.
  • AI Adoption & Enablement: private AI assistants, training and governance.

Each line works on its own, but most organisations combine two or three. Demos, scoping calls and AI Factory tours are booked directly with FirstCoreAI.
