Short answer
Yes. Hybrid voice designs are common with FirstNet. Operator Connect and Direct Routing can run in the same Microsoft Teams tenant, and FirstNet SIP Trunks can stay under an existing PBX while other users move to Teams or Zoom Phone.
In detail
Typical hybrid patterns:
- Most Teams users on Operator Connect, with Direct Routing alongside in the same tenant for devices Operator Connect does not support, such as common area phones, meeting room devices and analogue lift lines, paging or fax.
- An existing SIP-compliant PBX kept on FirstNet SIP Trunks while selected users move to Zoom Phone, with dial plans and emergency routing aligned.
- Microsoft Teams as the user interface, with FirstNet Managed Cloud PBX running queues, IVR and recording underneath.
- SIP trunks running under a legacy PBX while Teams calling rolls out, followed by a full transition later.
Because every option runs on FirstNet's own ICASA-licensed network, numbers, porting and support stay with one provider. Reporting can follow the same mix: Apex BI Clarity combines PBX call records and Teams calling data into one view and one chargeback model, which helps during a phased PBX-to-Teams move.
