Short answer
Have a finalised user list, a signed Letter of Authority for your numbers and an agreed cutover window. FirstNet also checks your network, power and devices before go-live, so calls work from day one.
In detail
Checklist before cutover:
- User list: each person's name, extension, direct number (DDI), device type, voicemail and call-group membership, on FirstNet's user-matrix template.
- Letter of Authority: signed, and matching exactly the company name and registration on your current carrier account.
- Change window: an agreed slot for the porting cutover, with your team available on the day and the day after.
- Devices: desk phones on site for day one, or softphones chosen instead.
- Power: UPS cover for the comms cabinet and reception phones, so calls continue during load-shedding.
- Network and recording: an uncontended link with QoS, SIP ALG disabled, PoE for desk phones, and a decision on which calls to record.
Number ports happen in fixed porting windows, and missing a slot can delay go-live by 5 to 10 working days. Changes to the user list mid-deployment also cause rework, so finalising it early is the simplest way to protect your go-live date.
