Short answer
Zoom does not deliver PSTN calling in South Africa on its own, so you need a Zoom Provider Exchange partner for local numbers. FirstNet provides ICASA-licensed voice, number porting and local support, all on one invoice with your Zoom licences.
In detail
What FirstNet adds as your Provider Exchange partner:
- ICASA-licensed (ECNS and ECS) South African termination and origination, routed over FirstNet's interconnects with Telkom, Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and other licensees.
- Set-up from inside your Zoom admin, with no separate carrier portal.
- New geographic, non-geographic and toll-free numbers, plus porting in and out with a Letter of Authority and rollback plan.
- Fraud monitoring with real-time call records, with premium-rate and exotic destinations blocked by default.
- One FirstNet invoice for Zoom Phone Pro, Power Pack and Common Area licences, voice and numbers.
FirstNet also designs and implements the service: network readiness checks, licence sizing, dial plans and emergency routing, a pilot group and a planned cutover. Support is local, in English and Afrikaans, with a 24/7 network operations centre for voice incidents, and FirstNet handles joint escalation with Zoom. Add-ons such as compliance recording, Apex BI Clarity analytics and Truecaller verified caller ID can sit on the same contract.
