Cloud backup: Backup as a Service from FirstNet

An encrypted, immutable offsite copy of your servers without building a second site: FirstNet Backup as a Service, powered by Veeam.

In this article · 3 sections

Most businesses have a backup. Fewer have one that is offsite, encrypted, protected from ransomware and tested. Backup as a Service (BaaS) gives you that independent copy without building a second site, and FirstNet, a Platinum Veeam Cloud & Service Provider, runs it for you.

How cloud backup works

  • Back up: Veeam Backup & Replication runs your jobs on the schedule and retention you choose
  • Connect securely: Veeam Cloud Connect links your environment to FirstNet over an encrypted TLS channel
  • Store immutably: data lands in the vault encrypted and can be set as immutable for the retention period
  • Restore on demand: files, application items or full VMs and servers, to the original or another location

Your licences or ours

  • Track 1: FirstNet supplies the Veeam licensing and the vault
  • Track 2: keep the Veeam licences you already own and use our offsite repository
  • Self-managed, or fully managed by FirstNet with monitoring and restores

When backup is not enough

Backup protects data; disaster recovery keeps services running. FirstNet DRaaS replicates your virtual machines into a FirstNet data centre with compute, memory and storage reserved for you, so recovery capacity is planned rather than best-effort. For Microsoft 365, FirstNet protects Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams with Druva.
