Firewall as a Service: Fortinet and Sophos, run by FirstNet

No firewall box to buy or look after: FirstNet runs Fortinet and Sophos firewalls for you, hosted on our platform or on site, as Firewall as a Service.

A firewall is only as good as the way it is run: rules that grow untidy, firmware that falls behind and alerts nobody reads. Firewall as a Service (FWaaS) hands that work to a team that does it every day. FirstNet provides, configures and supports the firewall, and you keep control of what it allows.

Choose where the firewall lives

  • Hosted by FirstNet: Fortinet Hosted VDOM Lite or Enterprise, or a dedicated Sophos Firewall Virtual instance for each customer
  • On site: a dedicated FortiGate or Sophos XGS appliance at your premises, for data sovereignty, latency, local breakout or high WAN throughput

What FirstNet runs for you

  • Firewall policy, NAT, routing, segmentation and VPNs
  • Firmware and signature updates, with a quarterly firmware programme
  • Monitoring, approved changes with rollback, and incident response within the agreed scope
  • Monthly reports on policy revisions, firmware drift and licence use

For Fortinet estates, FirstNet adds managed FortiManager for central control and FortiAnalyzer as a Service for log analytics, hosted in South Africa and billed in rands.

Sized on real traffic

Firewalls are sized on real inspected traffic, not line speed, so FirstNet gathers users, sites, peak throughput and SSL inspection needs before recommending a model.
