Short answer
Yes. FirstNet builds security into its cloud platform from the start, not as an add-on. A well-designed cloud can give you stronger security, visibility and resilience than a traditional server room on site.
In detail
FirstNet's security and quality systems are certified to ISO 27001 and ISO 9001. Its cloud setups include these controls:
- Access rights based on each user's role, plus multi-factor sign-in (MFA)
- Encryption of data at rest and in transit (AES-256 and TLS)
- Central logging and monitoring, with SIEM integration
- Regular vulnerability checks and penetration tests
- The recommended Private Cloud baseline: a virtual firewall to split up the network, and Veeam backups to immutable storage
Cloud security is still a shared job. FirstNet runs and secures the platform. Your own settings, user access, data classification and governance also shape the result.
Workloads run in FirstNet data centres in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Support runs through the 24x7 Rapid Response service desk. A FirstNet cloud architect can review your security needs as part of the solution design.
