Short answer
FirstNet Backup as a Service protects VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines and physical servers, with physical servers backed up using agents. The workloads can be on-premises or in a private or public cloud.
In detail
What you can restore:
- Individual files
- Application items, where the workload and backup configuration support it
- Full virtual machines or physical servers, to the original or an alternate location
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and laptop data are covered by a separate FirstNet cloud backup service powered by Druva, so the two services are often used together in mixed environments. Physical servers can also play a part in disaster recovery: if your site is lost, their backups can be restored into new virtual machines in the FirstNet DR environment.
During discovery, FirstNet captures how many virtual machines and servers you have, which hypervisors and operating systems they run, which applications are critical, your retention needs and your most important restore scenario. Those answers determine the vault tier, the retention design and whether FirstNet or your team runs the service day to day. If you have no Veeam environment yet, FirstNet's Veeam-certified engineers can deploy and configure the components for you.
