Short answer
FirstNet Managed DR includes quarterly test restores from your replicas to prove recoverability, unless a different cadence is contracted. A full failover test, where systems run from the DR site as production, is scoped separately and planned with your change control and stakeholders.
In detail
A test restore is a planned check that replicas can be recovered, without running production in the DR site. A full failover test starts and operates systems from the DR site, so it needs your application owners, approvals and a communication plan. Tests run in isolated recovery environments, sometimes called a test bubble, so live production is not affected.
To schedule a test, FirstNet agrees:
- The scope and success criteria, including recovery order and what a pass looks like
- The test window and any change freezes
- The stakeholders and approvals needed on the day
- Dependency readiness: DNS, Active Directory, IP plan, firewall rules and VPN
- Access requirements such as MFA, and the evidence or report format you need
After each test, FirstNet records outcomes, exceptions and recommendations in a DR test report, and agreed remediation actions feed back into the runbook. On Platform-Only DRaaS, your own team plans and runs DR tests instead.
