Short answer
No. Peplink is the SD-WAN edge that bonds and manages your links. FirstNet pairs it with FirstNet firewall-as-a-service for perimeter security.
In detail
The roles are separate:
- Peplink: bonds fibre, LTE/5G, microwave and satellite into one virtual link, with sub-second failover, Forward Error Correction and WAN Smoothing.
- Firewall-as-a-service: provides perimeter security, delivered by FirstNet.
- InControl 2: cloud management for the Peplink estate, run by FirstNet.
- FirstNet NOC: day-2 monitoring and ticketing across the edge.
Keeping connectivity and security as distinct functions lets each do its job, while one provider manages both. It also fits FirstNet's broader approach: firewalls, segmentation, secure access and traffic control must align with the network design and be applied consistently across sites.
For multi-site retail and QSR estates, centralised policy gives a consistent posture across hundreds of sites while keeping POS and payments running. If you already run your own firewall, raise it during the per-site survey so the design accounts for it alongside power, link selection and hardware sizing.
