Short answer
Typically several weeks to months, depending on construction, wayleaves and landlord approvals. If you need to open sooner, FirstNet can deploy LTE/5G in days while the fibre is built.
In detail
The fibre clock starts once approvals are in place, so lead time is driven as much by consents as by construction. Every link follows the same delivery path:
- Order intake: FirstNet confirms the signed service schedule, scope and your key contacts.
- Feasibility validation: feasibility and the carrier quote are confirmed for your exact address.
- Provisioning: carrier orders are placed and landlord, wayleave and municipal approvals coordinated.
- Install and test: the carrier installs, and FirstNet sets up and tests the managed router.
- Service handover: you receive a Service Handover Form within two business days of install, with two business days to test.
- Monitoring begins: the link moves to FirstNet's NOC.
You can shorten the wait by arranging landlord or body corporate consent, site access and power early. For a site that must open on a fixed date, LTE/5G is often live within a few working days on a minimum six-month term without an SLA, and can stay on as a backup once the fibre is live.
