How many static IP addresses come with FirstNet business fibre?

Fibre Connectivity · Answered by FirstNet Technology Services

Short answer

FirstNet business fibre includes up to two static public IP addresses by default: one is used on the FirstNet-managed router and one is available for your own use, for example for VPN or remote access. Additional public IPs can be added as an option as your site grows.

In detail

A static public IP is an internet address that does not change, which is what remote-access VPNs, hosted services and firewall rules usually rely on. How FirstNet handles addressing:

  • Two static public IPs by default on business fibre
  • Additional public IPs available as an optional extra
  • All allocated IP addresses remain the property of FirstNet
  • Dedicated Internet Access also includes static public IP addressing and enterprise routing

Other access types differ. Fixed wireless typically includes one static public IP. On LTE/5G a static IP is available as an option, and FirstNet recommends it for VPN or remote access, because the default on mobile networks may be shared, dynamic addressing behind carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT). Raise your addressing needs during design, where VLAN tagging and the IP scheme are confirmed, so they are scoped with the link.
