Short answer
No. DIA is a managed enterprise internet service for offices and core sites. IP Transit is a wholesale, BGP-based service for organisations that run their own Autonomous System and manage their own routing.
In detail
How they differ:
- Who it is for: DIA suits head offices, data centres, hubs and regulated sites; IP Transit suits ISPs and WISPs, hosting, cloud and data centre operators, CDNs, and enterprises with in-house network engineering.
- Requirements: DIA needs no ASN; IP Transit needs a public ASN, a router running BGP v4, and IPv4 and/or IPv6 support.
- Routing: with DIA, FirstNet manages routing and you receive static public IP addressing; with IP Transit, you control routing policy and traffic engineering.
- Support boundary: DIA is managed end to end by FirstNet; IP Transit support covers FirstNet's transit domain, backbone and ports, while routing policy remains yours.
- Delivery: DIA is a Layer 3 service into the FirstNet core over approved fibre; IP Transit gives your Autonomous System access to the global routing table through FirstNet's upstream and peering ecosystem.
If you do not have your own ASN or in-house routing expertise, DIA is the right managed choice. Both are uncontended services on FirstNet's own network.
