Short answer
Yes. FirstNet's managed security controls follow users wherever they work, so staff at home, in branches or on the road get the same protection as those at head office, without relying on a traditional network perimeter.
In detail
Several services cover the hybrid workforce:
- Endpoint protection: Sophos protects laptops, servers and mobile devices with malware protection, endpoint detection and response, and rapid containment of compromised devices
- Secure web and SaaS access: Netskope or Cloudflare Gateway inspects internet and cloud app traffic for office, remote and contract users
- Private app access: Netskope Private Access or Cloudflare Access gives app-level zero trust access instead of a legacy VPN
- Email: Mimecast filters phishing and impersonation before mail reaches any device
Cloudflare's edge, which includes Johannesburg and Cape Town, lets remote staff and contractors reach applications without backhauling traffic to head office. Sophos MDR monitors around the clock, and FirstNet's Incident Response team acts on its alerts.
Most organisations start with the gap that hurts most, such as an overloaded VPN, and add layers over time on the same FirstNet contract.
