What are managed cybersecurity services, and how does FirstNet deliver them?

Security · Answered by FirstNet Technology Services

Short answer

Managed cybersecurity services are security controls that a provider deploys, monitors and runs for you on an ongoing basis, instead of your team buying and operating each tool. FirstNet delivers managed cybersecurity across your network, cloud platforms, users and devices to reduce cyber risk and improve resilience.

In detail

FirstNet designs security as part of your wider IT infrastructure, alongside cloud, connectivity and communications, and runs each platform as a managed service rather than reselling licences. A typical estate combines several layers:

  • Firewall as a Service on Fortinet or Sophos, on your site or hosted by FirstNet
  • Mimecast for inbound email and SendMarc for DMARC on outbound email
  • Sophos endpoint protection with Sophos MDR for 24/7 detection
  • Netskope or Cloudflare Zero Trust for secure access, and Cloudflare for public-facing apps

Sophos MDR provides the 24/7 security operations layer, and FirstNet's Incident Response team works with you to contain, remediate and recover when it raises an alert. You deal with one contract and one support desk, Rapid Response, while FirstNet handles escalation into each vendor.

A FirstNet security specialist can help you decide which layer to start with.
