Short answer
Yes. FirstNet architects hybrid options that link your private estate to Azure or AWS for elastic capacity, so steady workloads run in FirstNet Private Cloud while burst or development workloads use public cloud.
In detail
How the connection works:
- Private peering: FirstNet Private Cloud supports private, secure peering with AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, so traffic does not rely on the public internet
- Site connectivity: site-to-site VPN, internet access and private dedicated links over FirstNet's carrier-neutral fibre footprint
- Azure landing zones: designed by FirstNet before workloads move, with tagging and budget alerts from day one
- Licensing: Azure can be supplied through FirstNet's Microsoft CSP agreement on one rand invoice
Hybrid designs suit organisations that keep sensitive or regulated workloads private while scaling other workloads into public cloud when required, and they also support gradual migrations.
Private Cloud itself is a dedicated IaaS platform, not a public-cloud-style multi-region active/active service. Within it, capacity can be adjusted as demand changes, and site-level failover uses geographic DR to a second FirstNet data centre. FirstNet designs the connectivity and segmentation for hybrid workloads, such as internet-facing versus private-only, during the sizing workshop.
