Short answer
Yes. Multi-site designs are common with FirstNet colocation, for example the Durban data centre paired with a Teraco site in another metro. FirstNet designs around your RPO, RTO and connectivity, and can add Backup as a Service or DRaaS.
In detail
Typical multi-site patterns:
- Production in your own server room or at FirstNet Durban, with DR in a Teraco site in Johannesburg or Cape Town
- Production at a Teraco site, with DR at FirstNet Durban or in another Teraco metro
- Colocated hardware for production, with FirstNet DRaaS replicating virtual machines to reserved capacity in a FirstNet data centre
- Veeam-powered backup sending offsite copies to another location for data recovery
A second colocation site gives you a geographically separate recovery facility without owning a second data centre. FirstNet provides connectivity between sites, such as MPLS or SD-WAN links, and coordinates cross-connects at Teraco.
To design it, FirstNet needs your RPO and RTO targets, where primary workloads run today and how much data changes each day, because replication bandwidth must match your recovery point objective. Complex DR designs get early specialist input, and recovery targets remain design targets unless explicitly contracted.
