Short answer
Access to FirstNet colocation is a security control. FirstNet registers your authorised contacts and sets up scheduled and emergency access: full racks and cages allow scheduled visits after identity checks, shared racks need escorted access, and remote hands can reduce the need to visit.
In detail
How access works:
- Authorised contacts: only pre-authorised people can enter, and access logs are kept for audit purposes
- Scheduled visits: customers with full racks or private cages arrange access for authorised staff, following identity verification and escort procedures
- Shared racks: a FirstNet engineer escorts and assists you, to protect other tenants' equipment
- Emergency access: 24x7 support facilitates out-of-hours access or troubleshooting
- Remote hands: on-site help with reboots, cable checks and visual inspections
All sites have 24x7 guarding, biometric access control and CCTV. At Teraco facilities, FirstNet coordinates access requests with Teraco's on-site teams and follows Teraco's campus security rules alongside its own processes, so you still deal with one support contact.
Unannounced walk-in access should not be assumed. Tell FirstNet during discovery how often your engineers expect to visit and who needs authorisation, so the right access model is set up from day one.
