Short answer
A full FirstNet colocation rack comes with a base power allocation of about 2.2 kVA, delivered over redundant A and B feeds. Power use is metered continuously, and if you consistently need more you can add capacity in increments of about 1.1 kVA, typically up to about 3.3 kVA per rack.
In detail
How power is protected at the Durban data centre:
- Redundant UPS systems and backup generators holding over 24 hours of full-load fuel
- Power and cooling designed with no single point of failure
- N+1 precision cooling with hot and cold aisle containment
- Around-the-clock monitoring by FirstNet's Rapid Response team
Very dense equipment may need to be spread across several racks to stay within per-rack power and cooling limits. If you run high-density hardware, such as blade servers or GPU systems, raise it early so FirstNet can discuss options such as multiple racks or specialised power circuits.
Your equipment list and power draw are checked before your space is allocated, and A/B power failover is tested before handover. Sharing your expected load now and in 12 months helps FirstNet allocate the right power from the start.
