Short answer
No. Microsoft Purview and Google Vault focus on compliance, eDiscovery and retention controls inside the platform, while FirstNet Cloud Backup Services, powered by Druva, give you a separate copy you can restore from. Many regulated organisations use both.
In detail
How they differ:
- Purpose: Purview and Vault help you retain, find and hold data for compliance; backup gets data back after deletion or ransomware
- Location: Purview and Vault work inside your Microsoft or Google tenant; backup keeps an independent copy outside it
- Recovery: backup lets you search and restore individual items, whole users or whole sites
- Ownership: backup can be run by your team or by FirstNet as a managed service
Because the backup copy sits outside the tenant, recovery does not depend on the platform you are trying to recover. That matters if data is deleted, settings are changed or files are encrypted and synced.
If your goal is mainly compliance discovery, Purview licensing is available through FirstNet's Microsoft CSP agreement, and FirstNet can help design and deploy those controls. If your goal is recoverability, start with FirstNet Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace Backup, licensed per protected user.
