Short answer
FirstNet's Security team designs it together with the Connectivity team. Both teams check the SD-WAN design and overlay before anything is quoted or deployed.
In detail
Security is built into FirstNet SD-WAN from the start, not added later. Security policy enforcement is one of its core jobs, along with path selection, traffic steering and QoS (quality of service). The design runs in five steps:
- Outcomes: FirstNet records your business, resilience and security goals.
- Underlay check: FirstNet checks multi-link needs and link quality at each site.
- Joint sign-off: the Connectivity and Security teams both check the design and overlay.
- Rollout and testing: FirstNet builds the approved design and tests it on the chosen underlay links.
- Managed service: the network moves to managed services for ongoing support and governance.
After rollout, FirstNet manages routing, QoS and security policies from one central point. Changes run through its managed services, Connectivity and Security teams. One SLA covers it all, with one party accountable.
Your needs drive the policy, because FirstNet records your security goals at the outcomes step. For Peplink edge devices, FirstNet adds its firewall-as-a-service for perimeter security.
