Short answer
FirstNet does. Once the approved SD-WAN design has been rolled out and tested, FirstNet hands it over to its managed services team for in-life support and ongoing service governance.
In detail
What managed SD-WAN covers:
- Centralised visibility across all sites
- Routing, Quality of Service and security policies managed centrally
- Changes and escalations handled by FirstNet's managed services, Connectivity and Security teams
- A single accountable SLA, covering the underlay circuits too where FirstNet supplies them
- Monitoring and fault coordination across the links underneath
This matters because SD-WAN is policy-driven: its value comes from keeping policies aligned with how the business uses its applications. A managed service keeps that governance consistent across every site, which suits retail and branch networks where uptime drives revenue, municipalities that need standardised behaviour across many sites, and cloud-heavy enterprises.
Where FirstNet also supplies the broadband, DIA, LTE/5G, microwave or LEO satellite underlays, faults on the circuits and the overlay go to the same team, so there is one point of contact whatever the cause.
